The Severn Valley Steam Railway.

Dating back to 1862 Severn Valley Steam Railway is one of the oldest and most scenic heritage railway journeys in the country. What better way to discover the Shropshire countryside and spend time with the whole family.

Climb aboard one of the many lovingly restored carriages for a memorable ride and enjoy breath-taking panoramas only visible by steam locomotive as you meander through the 16 miles of countryside.

The River Severn is within sight for most of your journey, only interrupted by the wild landscape of the Wyre Forest and countryside.

Get your camera ready as the train crosses the River Severn via the Victoria Bridge. The 200-foot cast iron railway bridge, which suspends high above the water, provides unrivalled views and a photo opportunity not to be missed.

Feel free to hop on and off at your pleasure as you pass through many idyllic stations between Bridgnorth and Kidderminster.

Stop off at Highley Station and visit the Engine House for a chance to get up close to some of the best-preserved engines and full-size locomotives, including one that once collided with a camel!

Explore the railway themed exhibitions on display and enjoy a bite to eat at 'Flag & Whistle Food Stop', a great place to relax whilst watching the trains pass by.

Throughout the calendar year, the Railway hosts many special events for the whole family to enjoy, including a 1940s Weekends, special Santa rides at Christmas, plus Peppa Pig and Thomas The Tank Engine themed weekends.
