What better way to travel through the majestic Yorkshire moorland than by steam train.

North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway is perhaps the most picturesque and characterful railways in the UK, an 18 mile route of preserved steam railway that runs through breathtaking scenery and quaint ‘olde worlde’ stations to the spectacular Yorkshire coast.

Travelling in romantic wood-panelled heritage carriages restored to their former glory, the historic railway runs between traditional market town of Pickering to the stunning coastal resort of Whitby, where Bram Stoker gained inspiration for Dracula and Captain James Cook learned the art of seamanship.

Once on-board you will pass through Goathland, a charming village and popular film location, best known as the enchanting Hogsmeade station in the first Harry Potter film and home to fictional 'Aidensfield' in TV's Heartbeat.

You will also pass through Grosmont. Stop off and enjoy afternoon tea or a pint of local ale, pick up a souvenir at the gift shop or take a look at the restoration work taking place in the engine sheds.

Lewisham is equally idyllic and is home to the railway’s artist in residence.

On this special week break you will also get chance to get up close to some of the most iconic cars from yesteryear at the classic car rally in Goathland. Talk to the owners and get a real insight into the history of the cars.

With live music from the decades performed local bands, you will be transported back in more ways than one.
