On the eastern banks of Lake Windermere lies Bowness-on-Windermere, a bustling town that enjoys lovely panoramic views of the lake, plenty of gift shops to browse and quaint cafés and tea rooms to enjoy. It is also home to the enchanting World of Beatrix Potter Attraction, where celebrated characters are brought to life in a magical setting complete with sights, smells and sounds of the glorious countryside. Kendal
The picturesque market town of Kendal is known as ‘the southern gateway to the Lakes’. Home of the famous Kendal mint cake, the town also has a fine selection of shops, pubs and restaurants as well as two castles and museums.

Grasmere
The picturesque village of Grasmere is nestled at the foot of some spectacular fells. This popular village offers plenty of gift shops, art galleries, cafés, tearooms and pubs as well as its own tranquil lake. Home to the poet William Wordsworth for several years, you can visit the Wordsworth Museum or find his grave in the church yard. Grasmere is also renowned for its unique gingerbread, sold from a tiny shop in the village.
