Since opening in 1981, Cats has gone on to become a global phenomenon and one the most successful and longest-running musicals of all-time.
It has attracted an audience of more than 73 million in more 300 cities around the world.
In the West End it became the sixth long-running musical in its history after 21 consecutive years and almost 9,000 performances.
After a 12 year break it was revived and returned to London’s Palladium with former Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger in the lead role as Grizabella, made famous by original cast member Elaine Paige.
The show received an overwhelming reception by the media and was extended due to popular demand, with every ticket snapped up by the public.
For those unfamiliar with the story it tells the tale of a special night in the feline calendar when all Jellicle cats meet at the Jellicle Ball to audition in front of their revered leader Old Deuteronomy, for who should be reborn into a whole new life in The Heaviside Layer.
As each cat takes their turn in the spotlight you gain a real insight into the unique personalities of the felines that inhabit the Jellicle through signature songs, including “The Rum Tum Tugger”, "Bustopher Jones: The Cat About Town”, Macavity the Mystery Cat”, “Gus The Theatre Cat” and “Skimbleshanks the Railway Cat”, but of course its Grizabella and her moving rendition of “Memory” that really catches the attention.
