Rimini is the most famous seaside resort in Italy thanks to its miles of glorious sandy beach along the Adriatic coast. So expansive is the beach that you’ll be spoilt for choice for where to pitch for the day and relax!

The seafront is a hub of activity, with plenty of watersports to enjoy, plus loads of bars and restaurants lining the promenade.

But the city’s appeal extends beyond the beach. The walled town itself is a cultural delight which enjoys a typical Roman layout, with narrow streets and piazzas waiting to be discovered around every corner. The central square of Piazza Cavour is a lively hotspot where you can try the local cuisine in the many restaurants or have a leisurely coffee.

You will feel like a Roman as you discover the town’s iconic landmarks. You can still walk across the town’s 2000 year old Tibirus Bridge, which was built in 14A.D whilst the remains of the Arch of Augustus, built in 20BC still feature original inscriptions in the stone work.

Meanwhile in Piazza Tre Martiri you can trace Julius Caesar’s footsteps to the place where the decision to march to Rome was made. Evenings can also be spent catching a classical music performance in the town’s ruined Roman Amphitheatre.

The city’s cathedral, the Tempio Malatestiano, is also an architectural gem whilst the Pigna Fountain deserves your attention whilst on a coach holiday to Rimini.

Rimini is also the perfect base to discover the ‘mosaic city’ of Ravenna and the independent state of San Marino
