The Loire Valley, stunning scenery.

Discover one of the stunning royal residences such as Chambord, a stunning example of the French Renaissance, standing in the heart of an immense estate which is almost as big as Paris! The Cheteau de Chenonceau, the elegant silhouette of which is reflected in the Cher River, or the Chateau d’Amboise with exceptional views over the Loire River. Why not take a stroll through its underground passages (if you dare!), or relive one of the grand feasts that were organised here by Francois I.

Why not take an excursion to the splendid Chateau de Villandry, the last of the great Renaissance Chateaux to be built on the banks of the Loire River. Bought by the Carvallo family in 1906 and lovingly restored, it was opened to the public in 1920. Still owned by the family today, the Chateau has been elegantly decorated and contains exquisite furniture, but it is its gardens for which it is most famous with three levels including a vegetable garden, water garden and stunning ornamental flower garden.

Set in the heart of the Pays de la Loire region, lies the fantastic city of Angers, a must seen when visiting this stunning region. Promising a mix of historic and cultural gems, great shops and cafe/bar culture it is famous for its impressive castle, originally, built as a fortress at one of the sites inhabited by the Romans because of its strategic defensive location, now hosting the large medieval tapestry of the ‘Apocalypse’ commissioned by Louis I and produced between 1377 and 1382. Why not take a stroll in the many parks and gardens, browse Angers speciality markets or indulge yourself in the famous Cointreau distillery or ‘blue chocolate’ factory.

Enjoy a coach trip to the small historical town of Saumur, sitting astride the Loire. Admire its striking turreted Chateau, with towers, gables, mullion windows and fleur-de-lys embellishment giving it the appearance of a fairytale castle. Explore the winding cobbled streets awash with sparkling wine cellars, a favourite product of this picturesque region
