In the run up to Christmas, Chatsworth House pulls out all the stops as the stunning ground floor rooms, which display a unique collection of artistic masterpieces, are beautifully dressed in their finest Christmas livery to create a show-stopping display to add to the majesty of the estate.
The display features tens of thousands of baubles and fairy lights, hundreds of giant trees and miles upon miles of sumptuous garlands and festive flowers.
Every year the house looks totally unique as it adopts a new theme for the decoration display as part of its festive celebrations. Themes including ‘Wind In The Willows’, ‘The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe’ and ‘Alice in Wonderland’ as well as ‘Pantomime’ ‘Russian Christmas’ and ‘Victorian Christmas’ have all been adopted in recent years.
Christmas Market
After admiring the house on a self-guided tour, explore the Christmas Market to get your Christmas Shopping off to an early start. Whoever you’re looking to buy for you will gain plenty of ideas throughout the 100 decorated stalls selling traditional handmade crafts, gifts, jewellery, decorations and wooden toys. Whilst there make sure you stop off for a glass of mulled wine and mine pie!
Children will love the magical nativity performances in the farmyard starring the estate’s own farm animals, whilst you can gain inspiration for your own Christmas decorations at the floral workshops and wreath making demonstrations.
