Whitstable Oyster Festival
Jonathon Swift is noted for saying ‘He was a bold man that first ate an oyster’, but in Whitstable, Kent the boldest are celebrated at the annual Oyster Festival. Providing a few family friendly days for all shellfish lovers to celebrate the fruits of the sea, we can’t promise any pearls but we’re certain you’re sure to find a few hidden gems at this festival. After the festival we make a trip to the heart of the Garden Coast, to lovely Folkestone, with towering white cliffs to the East and broad sandy beaches to the West. It's lovely harbour and wonderful sandy beaches make this a well-liked seaside resort, becoming one of the Cinque Ports in the 13th century and remaining a popular destination ever since.
